Turkey is one of the biggest and most important markets globally after countries with a higher population, such as China, Japan, and the USA, for the air conditioning industry. It's in a significant position in terms of not just consumption but also manufacturing. Turkey, where the air conditioning sector has exported almost half of the 1 million wall-mounted air conditioners they'd manufactured in 2020, is one of the leading supplier countries for the European Union. The data showed that the sector's export had increased 10% compared to the previous year.
Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Manufacturers' Association (İSKİD) Board Chairman Ayk Serdar Didonyan said, "Turkey is the center of air conditioning product manufacture among the EU countries. 2020 was also very busy and efficient for our sector in terms of R&D. We released new products by enhancing the filters of industrial air conditioning devices. The importance of energy efficiency grows each day. The demand for products that offer up to 50% energy efficiency, and products with enhanced inverter compressors is higher than ever."
The leading indicators have been high in the first six months
According to the sector's 2020 statistical results, many markets in the world shrunk, while the high temperatures in Turkey and the fact that the number of people working remotely increased due to the pandemic caused the demand for household air conditioners to increase. The "air conditioning systems and equipment" export was worth 365 million dollars in the first six months of 2021, while the general Airconditioning Export has reached 3 billion dollars and is going strong. The end-of-the-year Airconditioning Export is estimated to reach 6 billion Dollars.
İSKİD Board Chairperson Ayk Serdar Didonyan said, "Our primary market is the EU countries. Our share in the sector in world trade is about 1%, and we're trying to increase it to 1.5%.
